Australia Travelogue : Perisher Valley and Canberra

Assalammualaikum

❄️ Winter Trip ❄️

I was lucky enough to be offered by my beautiful housemate to join a trip this winter haha
Since most of my friends (even my room mate!) went back to Malaysia 😢, I thought I would be wasting my winter break staying at home and at Coles (Coles is a supermarket haha)

Oh since this is my first winter, I really wanted to go to the snowy mountains and touch snow for the first time eveeer and Alhamdulillah God answered my prayers.
Btw winter is not that bad in Sydney
it is not as cold as other places like Canberra and Tasmania if we're talking about places within Australia
and it is much warmer to compare with the winter experienced in Europe, Japan or other countries up there
We didn't even have any heater in the house (berjimat purpose)
I can stand the weather during the day with a normal sweater but during the night, it can be very cold (8degrees). I wear socks, a sweater, wrap myself around a cotton scarf and pull my duvet up till my face (sometimes) before I went to sleep

Back to the purpose of this post
let's talk about Perisher Valley 🏔️
Perisher Valley is actually the name of the snowy mountain here in New South Wales
(if any of u wonder, snow only fall at few places in Australia, usually at the mountains)
So this time
we rent a car from a company called Atlas and each of us paid 50.55 aud
The location of the snowy mountain is about 4 to 5 hours drive from Sydney
But to make this trip more enjoyable, instead of using the shorter road we drove along the Great Ocean Road so that we were able to stop at few places along the journey (took about 8 hours to finally reached our stay haha)

❄️ Day 1 : Attractions along the journey to the place of our stay, Merimbula resort

1. Bald Hill Lookout
Road tripping with these beautiful lads!
2. Sea Cliff Bridge

 3. Kiama blowhole
Having our little picnic for lunch here

This is not the blowhole but somewhere near to the blowhole hehe

Okay this is the blowhole!

4. NRMA Merimbula Beach Holiday Resort
Our stay for a night
I really think that this place is soo nice, besides it is surrounded by the sea, they also provide a lot of facilities! Let me name a few; pools, pool with slides, skateboarding place, trampoline, tennis court and etc. The thing that grabbed my attention was that they also provide places for those who are on holiday using campervan and those who opt to stay in their tents! All located in one place, I think it's quite interesting.

❄️ Day 2 : The next day we started our journey early in the morning as this was the day we went to the snowy mountain! Our itinerary for this day are Bega cheese factory > Cooma (the place where we rent our snow gears) > Perisher Valley

1. Bega Cheese Factory

Let me bring you a tour of the cheese factory!

2. Perisher Valley
Well, there is an interesting story about this one hahah but let me keep it just in my head
Snoww
Snow can be very fun but also challenging at the same time 😅 Right after this one, we treated ourselves with hot Dominos pizza and continued our journey to our next stay which is at ibis Styles Canberra Eaglehawk

❄️ Day 3 : Went to a fancy restaurant for brunch, visit Australian National University (ANU), Parliament House and Australian War Memorial. Basically Canberra is the ibu negara for Australia, the surrounding here is pretty much like Putrajaya where there are lots of government buildings. We thought of going to the embassy as well but since night comes early during winter, we were unable to capture the photo.

1. The Cupping Room Cafe
Paid 26 aud for this but I don't think it's worth it 💸 haha
2. Australian National University (ANU)

3. Parliament House

4. Australian War Memorial

Okay that's it for this memorable trip!
I'm finishing off another week of holiday before new sem starts
(Idk when again I'll have time to update this but let's pray that next sem won't be too much of
hustle)

Sincerely by Amira Aina :)
